“That which you hold , holds you” — Tom Robbins

As you go further, you will get the full gist because the title ‘ over sized flat’ leads us to the main story. There are times when we find it so hard to let go of things even when they just don’t fit.

I have a pair of flats, actually it’s currently my only pair of flats that I have refused to let go off even when my legs keep pulling out whenever I have them on. It’s a bit awkward that I have refused to let go, it’s my size and I really love the fact that the flat simple and classy . I wear a 40 and this pair of flats is a size 40 but my leg doesn’t settle well on it but I wear them regardless. There were times, these flats where abandoned for so long but just recently, I picked them up again. Suffering the same displeasure for almost two weeks and counting. Why do I still have them you would say? I mentioned earlier about it being the only flats, I own. Well, other reasons includes me not having enough money to get another one, good shoes are expensive the days. Also, my job mostly runs into the weekends and availability to shop for a new one is another challenge.

My oversized flats, feels like a burden that can only be lessened if I get rid of it and get a new pair that actually fits. Sometimes, we hold on to personal belongings for many reasons but getting rid of these items would not just lessen the weight but make us free.

Our personal belongings may have weight unarguably, but there are other things that doesn’t fit well into our lives but we hold onto them even when they are no longer useful. It could be relationships, social media, clutter of things (furniture, clothes, journals, pairs of shoes, utensils), habits, negative thoughts, worry and even the past.

You need to understand that it was not about the flats fitting properly, it was the fact that I held on to it even though it is uncomfortable and they make me really unhappy.

Pay attention to people or things that makes you uncomfortable and unhappy, this way, you can gradually lessen that weight they carry over you by letting go. You would realize that nothing last forever and that you can be fine without certain things or people in your life.

My decision is to get rid of these flats, so should you, just in case you have things you hold onto and have refused to let go off. Each time you get rid of an item, the weight reduces. It will give room for a breath of fresh air as you lessen the weight of holding on to things.

Toxic relationships, thoughts, habits would limit you to stop believing in your true self, thereby losing your confidence. For every time you choose to let go , it navigates you to a better, freer version of yourself. Getting rid of whatever burden you bear leads to growth and transformation for you.
